Dennis Onsia leaves Chaos Asylum

03 Jan 2012

Due to an increasing disinterest in playing the bass - he is a guitarist after all - our good friend Dennis Onsia has sadly announced his departure from Chaos Asylum. Through this way, we'd like to thank him for over two and a half years of loyal duty and of course the song 'Out Of The Frame', which we are keeping. Also, we'd like to wish him the best with the recently reanimated Dystopia and his task as a guitarist for Pulverised.

Dennis will remain our bassist in the live situation for future gigs until we have found a suitable replacement. So the ever present cliché in these kinds of messages that we have amicably split is actually true in this case.

So once again, Chaos Asylum is in need of a new bass player. Our demands are limited and relatively simple: we need a bassist that is at least as good as Dennis. Backing vocals are a plus, but not obligatory. Those of you who are interested can contact us at chaosasylum@live.nl or through any of the social networks.

Chaos Asylum will rock your bunker!

11 Oct 2011

Due to one of the artists dropping out (don't ask us why, we don't know!), Chaos Asylum has been approached to play Bunkerrock at the Witte Theater in IJmuiden on November 26th. Being the proud Dutchmen that we are, of course we'd love to play somewhere among one of our nation's fine docks. Other bands appearing that night will be The Garden Of Love, Mellyora, 2buckChuck and The Town.

For more info, keep an eye out on the Bunkerrock website or the Witte Theater website. Of course, we will get more info out to you as soon as we have it!

And if that's too far for you, you can always visit the Tjarda CD release party on October 28th in Alkmaar or at the Haarlem Metalnight on November 19th!

Enter the Circus!

04 Oct 2011

Dear friends, fans and acquaintances of Chaos Asylum,

The recording we made of the "classic" Chaos Asylum track 'Circus' for the Muziekcentrum Tjarda compilation is finally available for streaming and downloading online! Through our ReverbNation, MySpace and Hyves profiles, you can now listen to the song.

The recording has been mixed by Arjen Box and mastered by Gijs Steenbergen.

All the bands on the Tjarda compilation will be appearing live at Podium Victorie in Alkmaar on October 28th. So come on in and enjoy an evening of Alkmaar's finest!

Just enjoy!

Welcome Mitch Mulder!

23 Sep 2011

Through this way, we'd like to congratulate our good friend and guitarist Alex Mulder and his girlfriend Shirley with the birth of their son Mitch! Both Mitch and Shirley are healthy and well and Alex is the Thrashing version of a proud dad.

If his first word is "SLAYER!!!", you will all be the first to know!

We'd like to wish Alex, Shirley and Mitch all the best and a healthy future!

A last minute call!

01 Sep 2011

This is a last minute call out to all the headbangers and other people with a musical taste that is above average to come and visit the Last Minute Summer Event at Quelderduyn in Den Helder this Saturday, September 3rd! We will be playing the Rock stage at 7 PM. We might even premiere you a brand new Chaos Asylum song...

And other news: appearing with us at the Beijneshal in Haarlem on November 19th is Seven Steps Of Denial, the new band of drummer Laurens Kreeft and guitarist Dennis Mes, who used to play in Anubis with Alex and Kevin (and Dennis for a little while). And of course, Rob Langendijk, this forces you to come to the show as well!

See you this Saturday!

No longer quiet on the gigging front

11 Aug 2011

Now that all of you have bought a shirt (well...maybe...), go on and wear yours to the Last Minute Summer Event in Den Helder on September 3rd! The festival starts around noon, but Chaos Asylum will go on, surprisingly, at 7PM. But don't worry, among the many other bands playing the Rock stage with us are Bound 2 Ramble, Wet T-Shirt Contest, Noyalty and Def P & Howling Coyotes.

There's more coming up! As we've told you before: we will be featured on a compilation album of bands rehearsing at Muziekcentrum Tjarda regularly. On October 28th, there will be a release party with all the involved bands playing live at Podium Victorie in Alkmaar. In addition, we will be one of the two bands playing on the Metalnight on November 19th at the Beijneshal in Haarlem. For both of these gigs, details will be made available as soon as we have them!

Through this way, we'd like to wish our own Dennis the best of luck with the recordings of Dystopia's debut album in the forthcoming weeks!

Finally... Shirts!

04 Jul 2011

Hmmm... I told you there was going to be more exciting news, didn't I? The shirts we've been talking about for what seems like forever are finally there! From now on, it's possible to show your love for Chaos Asylum to the outside world. That is, if you haven't been fanatic enough to Tipp-Ex our logo on a black (or whichever color you like best) shirt already. Here's what they look like:

The shirts are available in S, M, L, XL and XXL and the girlies (which are decorated with the same design) in S, M and L. The shirts cost 10 euros a piece and if you want one...send us an e-mail and we'll try and work something out shipping-wise.

Or better yet, come visit a Chaos Asylum show and buy one there. This Saturday for instance, when we will play the Brothers Of Beer in Leiden with State Of Negation, Powerpimps and Let's Build An Empire. The evening starts at 7:30 and Chaos Asylum will be the second band playing. See you there!

Chaos returns in the studio

19 Jun 2011

We just got back from the Tjarda Studio, where we recorded the Chaos Asylum classic (maybe....) 'Circus' for a compilation album which will feature nine bands that regularly rehearse at Muziekcentrum Tjarda. And yes, that includes us. Within two and a half hours, we had to record a song for the album with our old friend Arjen Box and that proved to be enough. The actual cd should be available sometime around September.

For those who are interested, here is some trivia about the song: 'Circus' was written by our former bass player Rob when he was still in Anubis with Alex and Kevin, which makes the song at least three and a half years old. We started messing with the song around Rob's last weeks with the band, but ironically, it wasn't until Dennis had joined the band that it really came to life. Rob gave his seal of approval to the song when we first played it live and now, there will be a recording.

I know I said the same last time, but there's going to be even more exciting news soon, so we ask you to stay tuned again. Of course, when 'Circus' is available, you'll be the first to know!

The winner takes it all

11 Jun 2011

Or at least the festival gig! Yes, in deed, good friends of Chaos Asylum, we have won the rock contest at Studio 62 in Den Helder, which grants us a place on the bill of the Last Minute Summer Event at Quelderduyn in Den Helder. In deed, Dennis' dream of playing an open air festival will come true!

We'd like to thank the fucking marvellous audience in Den Helder for the energy and the warm welcome and extra special thanks go out to our friends of Incision and Purest Of Pain, for making it such a fun night. The fact that all the bands were killer makes our victory all the more awesome!

There's some more news on the way, so please stay tuned!

Gig news!

08 Jun 2011

Chaos Asylum has been asked to play a gig at Studio 62 in Den Helder this Friday. This last minute gig is a part of the Rock Contest for - ironically - the Last Minute Summer Event, so if we win, we will have a chance to play there. Among the other contestants will be our friends of Purest Of Pain, so the competition is powerful! The show will start at 7PM and Chaos Asylum will be the fourth band appearing.

In addition, as a "Chaos For Charity - Part 2", we have been approached to play a charity gig for Japan at the Brothers Of Beer in Leiden on July 9th. Other bands appearing are Powerpimps and Dutch Metal Bash winners State Of Negation. More details on this show should be available soon and of course, you'll be the first to hear them after ourselves.

We hope to see all of you in Den Helder on Friday! You're not going to hear better stuff on mainstream radio anyway...

Chaos Asylum will play with Rob Langendijk this Sunday!

26 Apr 2011

Yesterday, we rehearsed with our good friend and former bass player Rob Langendijk for the first time in over two years again. He will join us on stage for a song at the charity gig in Zeist this Sunday, playing the Aristides bass of which he designed the bridge. Playing the Ibanez GSR200 will of course as always be Dennis Onsia!

So come and see Chaos Asylum and Rob Langendijk at Hogeschool Helicon in Zeist this Sunday! It's free!

Chaos for Charity

17 Apr 2011

On May 1st, Chaos Asylum will be playing its first ever charity gig. And what better cause can one support than...music itself? We have been approached by organizer Niels Moes through our good friend and former bass player Rob to help him out with his charity show in order to help them finance the composition 'Birth' by American composer Edie Hill for his choir (the Valborgkoor).

Needless to say, the focus of this day won't be Heavy Metal, rather (modern) classical music. The program will be varied enough to make this an interesting listen to anyone.

The whole thing will start at 3 PM at Hogeschool Helicon in Zeist and entrance will be free of charge. Your financial support for 'Birth' will be appreciated though. For detailed info, please check this website.

Hey! Psssst....

03 Mar 2011

You did remember we're playing Café Pitcher this Saturday, did you? We'd love it if you were there. You might even be witnessing the premiere of a brand new song...

See you on Saturday and listen to Megadeth!

Chaos on the radio!

05 Jan 2011

For those of you who missed it the first time around... After our Rob Acda Award show, Kevin had an interview with Alternative FM, which they aired along 'Circus' and the first half of 'Cruci-Fixed' as we played them that night. You can listen to it right here. It's the start of the second hour (the right play button) of episode 46. Well, the start is a very cool song by !,,! Gangster !,,!, but we are up after that.

And please don't forget that we will share the stage at Podium Victorie in Alkmaar with Oliver/Dawson Saxon this Friday! Doors open at 9PM and it will be a kick ass night of old school Metal. It just has to be!

See Chaos Asylum with Saxon!

10 Dec 2010

Yes, you've read it correctly! Chaos Asylum will be opening for Saxon! Please note though, that this isn't the Saxon with Biff Byford and Paul Quinn, but the version with the just as legendary Graham Oliver and Steve Dawson. We love NWOBHM and therefore are very excited that Podium Victorie in Alkmaar approached us to do this gig. It will take place on January 7th and our friends of Incision will also join us this evening. For more info, please check the website of Podium Victorie.

And there's another new gig confirmed. On the 5th of March, we will hit the stage at Café Pitcher in Haarlem. Their booker spotted us at the Rob Acda Award and apparently liked us. So thanks for booking us! Should be something memorable!

There are some more gigs trying to happen, so stay tuned for more!

World premiere of 'Cruci-Fixed' and other jolly news

17 Nov 2010

Thanks to everyone who came out to see us at the Rob Acda Award last friday. Sadly, we weren't selected for the finals, but luckily, we did a good show. The people who organized the Rob Acda Award put a video online of us performing the world premiere of our brand new song 'Cruci-Fixed'. You can view it right here.

And some more news... Two new gigs have just been confirmed. The first one will be next Friday (November 26th) at the Vliet 60 in Julianadorp. This will be the farewell gig of Dysmorphium and we will open the night for them. This means we will be on at 8PM sharp, so please come early and celebrate one more time of Dysmorphium and Chaos Asylum with both bands involved!

The other gig will be early next year at the R17 in Grootebroek. We have been invited to play there on January 15th by our friends of Incision, who will also appear that night. We might even be joined by our great friends of Kffr that night, simply because playing live on January 15th without them doesn't feel quite right!

We hope to see you there. We might have some more gig news soon!

The countdown has begun

09 Nov 2010

Dear freaks from within and outside of the polder,

We don't know about you, but we are really counting down the days until our Rob Acda Award show at the Patronaat in Haarlem! We hope to see as many as possible of you there. If you're planning to come, we can't recommend you enough to buy your tickets in advance, as the Rob Acda Award evenings generally sell out at the venue. For more information about tickets, please check the Patronaat website. You can also go to your local Primera store to buy them, but from what I've heard, the service fee is relatively high there.

For all of you Dutchies out there, 3voor12 had an interview with us to introduce us to the Rob Acda Award audience. You can read it right here.

Tonight will be our last rehearsal before the show on Friday. Be sure to come out early; drawing straws are going to decide when we're playing on the day itself. And even if we are playing late, you don't want to miss out our rehearsal room mates of The Loss!

Today's news broadcast...

15 Oct 2010

Dear scum of the polder!

We know, we know... It's been a long time since we've actually had something to mention to you, but that doesn't mean we have been sitting around and doing nothing! It's been a bit quiet on the gig front (more about that later), but we can assure you we have been working hard on new songs and let me tell you: the new stuff contains some of the most epic, some of the most brutal and some of the Alexest stuff we have done so far. We'd like to think of it this way: if you liked us before, you're going to love this stuff. And if you didn't, you might not like it.

Another reason why we have been a bit quiet to you lately is because there really wasn't any news worth mentioning. However, that has changed now. Chaos Asylum has been selected as one of the 24 bands playing for the Rob Acda Award! That means that we get to play at Haarlem's beautiful Patronaat. The show starts on November 12 around 7:30 PM, tickets cost 5 euros and are available at the Patronaat website and among the other bands on the bill are our rehearsal room mates The Loss. Should be fun! We might even play a new song or two...

Then there's t-shirts. We know we've been talking about that for almost a year now, but there finally seems to be some progress. We're not sure if we can finish the whole thing in time to have any available for the Patronaat gig, but we're trying. I've seen the designs and they are going to look killer!

How's that for an update?

I'd say...save the rage for November 12th and we hope to see as many as possible of you there!

Last minute show in Hilversum!

17 Jun 2010

Polderthrashing friends!

This saturday, we will play a last minute gig at café Barracuda in Hilversum. This just came in, the news is still hot and we know it's short notice, but please feel free to spend an evening of Metal with us!

FULL demo 'First Movement' online now!

11 May 2010

The wait is finally over...

Our demo 'First Movement' is finally available online! No physical copies yet, but you can hear the complete demo - containing the songs 'Blame', 'Dead Eye Movement' and 'Final Nation - on our MySpace, our Hyves and our brand new Reverb Nation profile! In fact, on the latter, you can also download it!

Please check these songs out, let us know what you think of them and if you like what you hear... Please spread the word!

In the meantime... Pictures!

01 Apr 2010

Hello you Thrash freaks and other people with a highly evolved musical taste!

What's most important now, is that we want to thank everyone who came out to Victorie last week for making it such a wonderful evening. Despite the cancellation of Izegrim, it was a nice little Thrash party. Not even a couple of injuries could stop that.

As for all the other things coming up... We're awaiting the final mixdown of the demo right now, but I can already tell you that the three songs we recorded are sounding killer. It was a big experiment for engineer Arjen Box as well as for ourselves, but we really couldn't have wished for better results. Really, if you want to record your shit, record it with Arjen!

So while you're waiting for the demo to be finished, why not check out a couple of awesome live pictures our webmistress Sandra took at our shows at Studio 62 and Victorie. Check the Media section for them!

Until we meet again...keep on Thrashing!

Kevin

Studio update!

27 Feb 2010

Hello Polderthrashers!

We thought it might interest you that Chaos Asylum just spent three days in the studio with young and upcoming engineer Arjen Box to record our first demo. And the best news is: the recordings are done! We might put a little finishing touch to one of the songs, but as of now, all we have to wait for is the raw mixes and - eventually - the definitive mixes. So we hope to have these three songs available for your listening pleasure soon!

And another update: we were surprised by the demand for t-shirts recently, so we looked into the options we had for that. We can't say for sure yet, but we are going to try to have some shirts and girlies available before our gig with Izegrim and Devious in Alkmaar on March 26th. Keep an eye on our homepage and our band members in the meantime and we will definitely try to keep you informed!

And this is another paragraph that ends with an exclamation!

Cheers,

Kevin

New tunes, new updates, new...sletter!

05 Feb 2010

Dear friends of Polderthrash!

First of all, we'd like to let you know that we finally have a newsletter you can subscribe to. At the top of this page, you can click the "Subscribe to the Chaos Asylum newsletter" line and a box in which you can put your e-mail address will magically appear. Thanks to our webmistress Sandra, because she rules. We noticed people wanted to be updated about everything Chaos Asylum and this seemed a fitting way to do so. If you know any other people who would be interested, please spread the word!

Secondly, we'd love to thank everyone who came out to see us at Molfest and Helderianfest! We were simply overwhelmed by your amazing response! Another thing that overwhelmed us was the demand for t-shirts and demos. All we can say is that we're looking into the opportunities for that and as soon as there's any more info on the subject matter, you'll be the first to know!

In addition, we uploaded a couple of soundboard recorded tracks from our show at Molfest Metal 2010 to our MySpace and our Hyves, so go on and check them out! These tracks were once again recorded and mixed by house engineers Ron de Wagt Jr. and Nick Kroes. Thanks once again to them! From the same show, SpeesCees shot a video from the first time we ever played the song 'Worship Me'! You can view it right here.

Once again: thanks very much to all of you for being the best fucking audience in the world!

Enjoy the weekend, stay Metal and be good to your mom!

On behalf of Chaos Asylum,

Kevin

New shows! Loads of 'em!

05 Jan 2010

Polder Thrashing Madmen!

If your new year's resolution was to see us live more often... Consider your needs fulfilled! We've got a couple of new shows to announce and of course, we hope this isn't the last time we do so.

Next week will be festival weekend! Well...sort of... On Friday, January 15th, we will be playing Molfest Metal at JC Kompleks in Heerhugowaard. Other bands appearing that night will be The Lucifer Principle, Bloid and Kffr. Kffr will also play with us when we hit the stage in Den Helder the day after, January 16th, to play the brand new Helderianfest! Our other friends that day will be Cypher, Sincerus, Grimhorde and Dysmorphium. If you want those days to be boring, you'd better stay at home!

Another addition is a last minute one. Apparently, we've been selected for the Metal Battle for Northern Holland, which means we'll appear at the small hall of De Kade in Zaandam this saturday, January 9th. Please come and support us!

And if that wasn't enough already, we're also playing in our home town Alkmaar on March 26th. That day, we'll be playing Podium Victorie (for the old schoolers: that used to be Atlantis) with a very interesting bill, also containing Izegrim and Devious.

Make your selections and we'll see you there!

Have a Thrashing great week!

Kevin

Chaos Asylum at Hyves

30 Oct 2009

Our own Rick has made us a profile on Hyves, so all the Dutchies who would love to hear some Polderthrash but - for whatever reason - don't want to visit MySpace or our regular website (wait, scrap that, you wouldn't be reading this if you don't), have a look at chaosasylum.hyves.nl and become our friend. You can even get in touch with, become friends with or just downright stalk every band member except for myself over there! If that isn't a slice of heaven, I don't know what is!

Through this way, we'd also like to congratulate that very same Rick with his driver's license!

THRAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!!!

Kevin

First tracks online!

13 Oct 2009

Hello Polderthrashers!

First of all, thanks to everyone who came out to watch us at the pre-party of Mario's Metal Meeting III! It was great fun playing for a completely "new" audience who apparently could appreciate us! So thank you! And thanks, most of all, to Mario for having the balls to book us without even having heard us! We are eternally grateful! And let's face it... It was a great party!

But he can hear us now. And so can you. We just uploaded four songs to our MySpace, so you can stream and in fact download them. These tracks were recorded at our very first live show at Popmania in Jongerencentrum Kompleks in Alex' and Kevin's home town of Heerhugowaard on September 18th. The songs were recorded from the soundboard and mixed by house engineers Ron de Wagt and Nick Kroes. Thanks to the both of you!

We will make a live promo CD out of these tracks to send around to venues. If you are interested in having a CD, please contact us and we'll see if we can arrange something.

Please do let us know what you think of the songs! Like we said, this was our first live show, with all the technical difficulties and imperfections that are supposed to take place under such circumstances. But it was great fun and at least you can now listen to what we are up to.

Have a Thrashing week!

Kevin

New shows

29 Sept 2009

Thanks to everyone who came out to see our first live show at Kompleks in Heerhugowaard. You were all we could ever wish for and more! Thanks for supporting the first wave of Polderthrash and we hope to greet you again soon! We will hit Kompleks again on January 15th of the new year anyway, to play Molfest Metal with The Lucifer Principle and Bloid, so please do come again and be as crazy as you were last time!

Our friends in southern Holland will also get a chance to see us. Here's the deal: we've been booked to play the pre-party of Mario's Metal Meeting at Little Devil in Tilburg on October 3rd, which is next saturday. We will hit the stage around 8 PM, so please, be there! And while you're at it - and I'm saying this on behalf of only myself - also stay there for the festival the day after, as Holy Moses is headlining!

Peace out everyone! And we hope to see you on saturday!

Kevin

Old school, yet online

26 June 2009

We are finally online. After more than half a year of jamming in a sweaty rehearsal room, we finally got ourselves a nice little homepage. Thanks to Sandra. There's not that much here yet, but you can learn about who we are and what we are (if you do, you already know more than we do) and there will be more shortly. We promise. Please support Polderthrash and we hope to be announcing shows soon.

Thanks for your interest and keep your Metal Thrashin' mad!

Kevin

Greetings...you!

22 June 2009

Welcome to our online home. Work is still in progress, but it's shaping up to be quite nice. Check back soon for updates and more good stuff. Enjoy what's already there now. No seriously, enjoy it, you have to!

See you soon!
